Amazon faces problems.

Amazon’s Kindle has sold out and they don’t know when it’s going to be back in stock.

Foxconn manufactures the Kindle for Amazon but also the iPad and iPhone 4 for Apple which may explain the company failing to meet customer demand. The iPad sold over 1 million devices in the first 28 days and, more importantly, the eBook sold over 1.5 million downloads from the iBookstore.

Amazon responded to this by dropping the price of the Kindle from $259 to $189. This may have caused the rapid sellout seen as orders have tripled since the change in price.

The future of the Kindle may be uncertain with the suppliers having higher priorities from the much larger company Apple, which leaves Amazon with no fixed date for the return of the Kindle.
